beech road - window installation
The client had visited our show house which made them realise that refitting their kitchen was an opportunity to radically improve this room's thermal performance. The mixture of existing windows was replaced with Green Building Store triple glazed timber windows.
The old windows were removed. The new windows had been ordered to make the best use of the original stepped reveal to maximise available light and reduce cold bridges.
We fitted insulated timber reveals that in this case also included an insulated slot for remote controlled roller blinds.
Internal wall insulation was used to avoid altering the appearance of the back of the house. This is 140mm UdiInReco woodfibre insulation, giving a U value of 0.35w/m2.k
Airtightness was provided by a combination of closed cell polyurethane foam on the outside and ProClima tape to the insulation on the inside.
The walls were plastered with vapour control plaster, with a final coat of lime skim to finish.
